Job summary

Inteplast Group is seeking a Sr. Press Technician for the 3rd shift (10:00 PM–6:00 AM) to drive setup and automation for production, boosting productivity and utilization.

You will manage press operation across substrates and inks, uphold safety standards, and support continuous quality improvements in a fast-paced plant. The role requires at least 3 years on flexographic presses, leadership experience, and the ability to work non-standard hours as needed, including weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating flexographic printing presses.
  • Strong technical proficiency in press set-up, operation, and maintenance.
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a SQF qualified facility.
  • Experience working with a variety of substrates, inks, and printing techniques.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and proactively address safety issues.
  • Check press specifications for ink, cores, film, plate cylinders, anilox, etc., for current/upcoming jobs.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality materials.
  • Maintain good and consistent print quality from start to finish.
  • Identify defects and adjust to stay within specifications.
  • Verify and maintain ink parameters (viscosity, PMS matching).
  • Dispose waste materials to designated containers.
  • Procure cores, install first core, adjust viscosity, add solvent as needed.
  • May perform other duties as required by production needs.
  • Attend site safety or job trainings as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production schedules and ensure timely delivery.
  • Train press operator assistants following safety protocols and best practices.
  • May require weekends/holidays to meet production demands.
  • Be flexible with shifts and overtime; 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Maintain a clean work area.

SHIFT: 3rd Shift - 10:00PM to 6:00AM

TITLE: Sr. Press Technician

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The person in this role reports to the Production Manager. The position is responsible for the beginning set-up and/or automation process for production, with emphasis on measures to increase productivity, efficiency and utilization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with a variety of substrates, inks, and printing techniques.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Always adhere to safety guidelines and protocols. Be proactive in addressing and reporting safety issues/concerns.
  • Check Press specifications for ink, cores, film, plate cylinders, anilox, etc., to ensure all resources are needed and ready for current and upcoming jobs.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials.
  • Maintain good and consistent quality print from start to finish.
  • Identify defects and make all necessary adjustments to ensure product remains within specifications.
  • Verify and maintain ink parameters (viscosity, match PMS, etc.)
  • Ensure waste materials are discarded to their designated containers.
  • Get all cores for job, install first core in wind adjust viscosity, add solvent as necessary.
  • May be required to perform other duties within the plant as requested or assigned based on production needs.
  • Attend site safety or job trainings classes as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production schedules and ensure timely delivery of printed materials.
  • Train press operator assistants while adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
  • This position may require working weekends and holidays to meet production demands
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed is required.
  • Flexibility to work 12 hours rotating shifts.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION
  • Willing to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Must perform work efficiently and effectively under short notice.
  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, arm guards).
OTHER INFORMATION
  • Thorough understanding of SQF requirements and quality control processes.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot press malfunctions and perform repairs in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of color management and quality assurance processes.
  • Aim to maximize production performance and output while maintaining quality.
  • Experience in SQF and/or ISO is an asset.
TRAINING
  • Ensure GMP are exerted throughout the production process.
  • Ensure production process follows SQF Code.
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE
  • Experience driving a forklift truck preferred.
  • Basic computer and calculator knowledge.
