Senior Plumbing Design Engineer

Who You’ll Work With

You will join one of our 45 US offices, be part of a dedicated team of over 1500 professionals, and work collaboratively with clients on impactful projects. As a Senior Plumbing Design Engineer, you will collaborate with industry experts and leadership within our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice to deliver high-quality, consistent, and accurate solutions to our clients.

What You’ll Do

Design comprehensive plumbing systems for large, complex manufacturing facilities across sectors like food, beverage, life sciences, and high-tech industries, including determining design criteria, creating drawings, selecting equipment, and preparing system layouts for various systems such as domestic water, sanitary, storm water, compressed air, industrial gases, vacuum, and fire protection.

Contribute to project evaluation, ensuring appropriate capacity and licensing. Our environment emphasizes mentorship and professional development, avoiding overwhelming new engineers.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Mechanical Engineering Leadership: Lead projects focusing on plumbing design, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
2. Plumbing Code Expertise: Apply knowledge of US and international plumbing codes, including FDA guidelines for GMP and cGMP facilities.
3. Industrial Plumbing System Design: Design systems for various industrial sectors, with experience in high-tech and cleanroom facilities preferred.
4. On-site Construction Supervision: Oversee installation and construction to ensure adherence to practices.
5. Problem Solving: Use analytical skills to develop innovative solutions for complex challenges.
6. Collaborative Design: Work with multidisciplinary teams.
7. Software Skills: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
8. Mentorship: Guide junior team members and promote growth.

What You’ll Bring

• Active ASPE CPD Certification; PE License preferred.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with a focus on plumbing for industrial facilities.
• Deep knowledge of plumbing codes and on-site experience.
• Design skills and problem-solving expertise in complex systems.
• Experience in food, beverage, life sciences, or high-tech facilities; GMP/cGMP experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and MS Office.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel 10-20%.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
