Pacific Life Insurance Company is seeking a Sr Platform Appian Engineer II to join the BPM Enablement Platform team in Newport Beach, CA.

The role is hybrid and supports Appian Investment Applications within Pacific Life’s Institutional division, applying industry standards and enterprise system practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software development, information technology, or a related field.
• Diverse BPM experience; 5+ years designing and developing BPM applications.
• Appian Level2 and/or3 Certification.
• Proficiency in .NET, Java, Visual Basic, C# or similar.
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and UI/UX design.
• Experience with Appian Admin console and app servers.
• Familiarity with Appian Integrations and Plug-Ins.
• MS-SQL or equivalent DB experience.
• Experience in an Agile team environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Job description

We’re actively seeking a talented Sr Platform Appian Engineer II to join our BPM Enablement Platform team in Newport Beach, CA. This role is hybrid and supports Appian Investment Applications within Pacific Life’s Institutional division, applying industry standards, protocols, technologies, best practices, and commonly used enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with Technology and Business teams to understand the business process and requirements and provide end‑user support.
• Partner with IT and functional areas to develop simple, effective, and innovative solutions that simplify workflow processes.
• Ensure the smooth operation of Investments Appian applications by monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and applying necessary updates and patches.
• Identify areas for process improvement within existing Investments Appian applications and implement enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Assist with the creation and review of programming documentation and recommend changes in development, maintenance, and application standards.
• Perform process development and testing/debugging, using best practices to ensure minimal maintenance.
• Conduct knowledge sharing sessions of the Investments Appian applications with other Appian Platform resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software development, information technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years’ experience designing and developing BPM applications.
• Appian Level2 and/or3 Certification.
• Software development experience in .NET, Java, Visual Basic, C#, or similar.
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and UI/UX design.
• Experience with the Appian Admin console and administration of application servers is helpful.
• Familiarity with Appian Integrations and Appian Plug‑Ins.
• Familiarity with MS‑SQL or an equivalent database.
• Experience working in an Agile team environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.

Preferred

• Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced knowledge and experience in Appian, BPM, or other workflow development.
• Knowledge of Appian development, UI design, defining custom data types, and process design.
• Experience working with Azure pipelines and AWS.

Benefits

Base Pay Range: $125,100.00 – $152,900.00. Additional incentive pay may be available.
