Job summary

Textron Systems in New Orleans is seeking a Sr Painter for the 2nd shift to perform painting, surface prep and related tasks in a manufacturing environment. You will work from engineering drawings, follow instructions, and maintain records as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The role requires a high school diploma and 3+ years of related experience, with the ability to read blueprints and sketches. Rotating shifts and safety compliance are essential to success.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Painting, sand blasting, spray painting with conventional and airless equipment.
• Prepare surface, mix paint and clean surfaces before coating.
• Perform equipment maintenance and use hand tools as listed.
• Work from engineering drawings and written/verbal instructions.
• Wear appropriate safety gear and comply with procedures.
• Maintain records and logs as required.
• Perform other duties and work in confined spaces as needed.

About This Role

We believe people should love what they do — in this role, you will be responsible for:

A Sr Painter’s primary area of expertise is painting, but under general supervision they are expected to perform any tasks assigned by management based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Job duties include but is not limited to painting, sand blasting, spray painting using conventional and airless equipment, pulling blast/paint lines, mixing paint, pressure washing, preparing surface for application of coatings and specialty cleaning.
• Performs equipment maintenance
• Utilizes hand tools such as psychrometer, profile and mil gauge, disk sander, wire brush, grinders, scaling gun, needle nose, crescent wrench, and pliers in the performance of the job.
• Must be able to work from Engineering drawings, sketches and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours as needed to accomplish the task or work with little or no prior notification.
• Maintain records, forms and logs as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management
• Preforms work in confined spaces.

Education Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Formal craft training and 3 plus years of related experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and sketches, shop orders and perform shop mathematics.
• Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
