Job Summary

Morae Packaging is looking for a Sr. Packaging Engineer, reporting to our General Manager - USA. This highly collaborative role will lead the packaging development process from concept to production. The Sr. Packaging Engineer is responsible for developing best-in-class products that meet or exceed cost, quality, functional, and aesthetic requirements. The Sr. Packaging Engineer will also collaborate with chemists from our sister company to conduct compatibility testing on their packaging.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the complete package development and commercialization process, including performance testing and internal item setup.
  • Work closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to optimize packaging for cost, timing, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging issues involving designs, materials, and processes while providing creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Validate engineering drawings and specifications of products to determine physical characteristics, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and material types required for packaging.
  • Create testing protocols and implement efficiency tools to ensure technical readiness.
  • Review and validate stock components, as well as critical dimension checks for custom tooled components.
  • Coordinate with the Morae Korea Sr. Packaging Engineer on custom tooled components.
  • Communicate project status effectively to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate between internal resources and vendors to execute package development.
  • Lead cross-functional teams from product conception to launch.
  • Manage multiple product categories and customer scopes, coordinating differing timelines, processes, and teams, including componentry, process engineering, and customer service.
  • Bachelor’s degree in product design, packaging, or related engineering fields.
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial or consumer packaging development roles.
  • Experience in developing lifestyle/beauty/cosmetic packaging.
  • Knowledge of product development concepts, practices, and procedures, including manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, SolidWorks, and CAD.
  • Works collaboratively but takes full ownership of projects.
  • Embodies a “no task too small” attitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
