As a Senior Operations Research Analyst, you will be a leading member of the Hertz Fleet team. In this role, you will be analyzing data, building reports, managing inputs for our optimization model, and making decisions that affect the Hertz rental fleet and other business segments. The goal of the Fleet Department is to minimize the cost of fleet while ensuring we have the right car in the right place at the right time to maximize the demand captured. You are encouraged to look for options that reduce cost, improve utilization, fulfill additional rental demand and increase car sales opportunities.

Starting salary is $60K; commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

We are looking for analysts who enjoy both business analytics and data science. In the Fleet department you will be working on a variety of tasks which include:

• Understand underlying connection between different aspects of the optimization model to better control model results.
• Translate fleet optimization model recommendations into business implications and monetary impacts.
• Write queries in SQL, R, or Python for pulling, cleaning and inputting data.
• Build automation tools for reporting and individual responsibilities to help improve fleet processes.
• Create concise and insightful data visualizations in Tableau.
• Collect, categorize, maintain, and analyze data using a range of quantitative techniques.
• Perform detailed analysis of key business metrics and provide actionable insights.
• Partner with other departments to model, design, and build reporting using Tableau, Excel, Databricks, S3, Athena, etc.
• Develop insights from complex unstructured data and maintain data integrity to ensure information is sent in a timely manner.
• Lead data support to peers as well as broader team stakeholders.
• Ensure consistency and clarity in processes so data flow stays up-to-date and on-schedule.

Experience and Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED and 3+ years of relevant experience
• 2+ years of relevant experience and a master’s degree. Preferred in the following disciplines:
• Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering

Professional Experience:

• 2+ years of work experience in data analytics and/or data sciences in a business or advanced academic setting.
• Extensive experience with scripting languages such as SQL, Python, R, SAS.
• Proven ability using data to drive changes, improvements and optimization in an operational environment.
• Competency in identifying data sources and manipulating and extracting data for dashboards, visualization, or reports.
• Experience with optimization models or other data science models.
• Proficiency using Tableau, Power BI or other data visualization tools.
• Well-versed in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
• Knowledge of AWS, S3, Databricks, Gurobi, Athena.
• Familiarity with linear programming is a plus.
• Exposure to supply chain topics in a professional setting is a plus.
• Experience in car rental or fleet management is a plus.

Additional Qualifications:

• Passion for mathematical reasoning and answering difficult questions with data
• Strong ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts to various audiences in written and verbal form
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment to meet plan and reporting deadlines
• Ability to lead tasks with minimal guidance
• Innovative thinking skills
