Job summary

BAE Systems in Louisville, KY is seeking three Senior Mechanical Engineers to provide Engineering Production Support for multiple Naval Systems Programs. These engineers will interface between design and production to analyze and solve problems in mechanical subsystems, assemblies, and components.

Required: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years' experience, Creo CAD skills, and strong communication.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Expert knowledge of fundamental mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with computer applications and technologies for engineering.
  • Experience with 3‑D CAD software such as PTC Creo.
  • Ability to create and maintain large Excel spreadsheets and solve design problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Job Description

BAE Systems in Louisville, KY, is seeking 3 Senior Mechanical Engineers to provide Engineering Production Support (EPS) for multiple Naval Systems Programs. These individuals will serve as an interface between design and production engineering for analyzing and solving problems related to the design and fabrication of mechanical subsystems, assemblies, and components. They will support design‑related change notices, problem reports, and variance activities.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, You Will
  • Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
  • Serve as an Engineering Support point of contact for all programs and components manufactured in Louisville.
  • Work with production support to create Problem Reports detailing engineering related issues with items in production.
  • Develop timely, complex and non‑complex solutions to problems and coordinate effective fixes through Problem Reports, Variances, standard and non‑standard repairs, and configuration notes.
  • Communicate and collaborate with EPS, Integrated Program Teams (IPT), and Program members to drive issues to closure.
  • Maintain the Variance control process for production‑related variations from the technical data package (TDP), including obtaining internal and customer approval for subject Variances.
  • Assist in assigned special projects and/or process improvement teams to improve work effectiveness and relationships between Design and Production, such as improving configuration management of TDP and re‑manufacturing drawings, and developing and implementing design‑change workflow processes within configuration management and engineering data management systems.
  • Recommend design enhancements for the system, subsystem, or component design to the design engineering group.
  • Use CAD tools and basic measuring equipment to define current characteristics that enable timely solutions to production issues.
  • Perform daily coordination with onsite Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives, policies, and rules.
  • Regularly work in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, safely navigating production areas that may require climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces, and complying with all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related accredited degree.
  • At least 4 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Expert and documented knowledge of fundamental mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies applicable to engineering disciplines.
  • Experienced with 3‑D CAD software such as PTC Creo (Pro/Engineer, ProductView).
  • Ability to create and maintain large Excel spreadsheets, solve basic technical design problems, and develop effective relationships with customers to solve technical problems.
  • Demonstrated self‑starter who requires minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
  • Experience supporting engineering in a production environment involving weldments, fabrication of machined parts, and assembly, integration, and testing of subsystems.
  • Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
  • Familiarity with CREO.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5‑2009 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Active security clearance.
Pay Information

Full‑time salary range: $88,189 – $149,922. Pay is based on market structures and may vary by experience, qualifications, and local market conditions.
