Job summary

The Ash Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for researching, designing, and developing advanced mechanical systems including ammunition handling, gun systems, and missile launchers.

You will lead technical analysis, testing, and documentation to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards, and work closely with manufacturing shops and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 4 years’ experience; or Master’s degree with 2 years’ experience.
  • Working knowledge of creating moderately complex solid models and mechanical designs using CAD systems, preferably PTC Pro‑E or Creo.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems requiring professional engineering knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with internal or external shops to manufacture designs.

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, analyze, and design mechanical products such as ammunition handling systems, gun systems, and missile launchers.
  • Perform technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and computer programs.
  • Analyze design specifications, drawings, and test results to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards.
  • Develop and write technical documentation, revise existing documents, and provide input to technical papers and presentations.
  • Deliver technical presentations related to production support activities.
  • Create and maintain product parts, assemblies, and drawings using PTC Creo Parametric software.
  • Perform complex engineering design, development, and product assurance tasks for technical projects.
  • Maintain effective relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Acquire up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, and trends.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Provide input to project leaders for project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Preferred Skills
  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in a relevant work environment.
  • Minimum of 4 years and not to exceed 15 years of work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with Creo modeling and drawing generation.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5-2009 or -2018).
  • Working knowledge of Tolerance Stack Analysis.
  • Experience with the EPDM system, preferably Windchill.
  • Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
  • Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in a military product production environment.
  • Experience in developing precision assembly tooling.
