Job summary

SPX Technologies, a global HVAC and detection solutions provider, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design, test and optimization of mechanical systems for hydronic boilers. You will collaborate with engineering, R&D, manufacturing, quality and supply chain to deliver high‑quality products through the lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of progressive mechanical engineering in product design, development or sustaining engineering.
  • Experience in boilers, hydronic systems or similar heating systems is a plus.
  • Technical leadership on multiple engineering projects from concept through production.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) for 3D modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, test and development of mechanical systems and various components adhering to company and industry standards such as hydronic boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves and controls.
  • Drive design changes through engineering change management processes while ensuring product quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead engineering activities related to product enhancements, lifecycle management, value engineering, quality improvements, and regulatory and safety compliance updates.
  • Analyze and interpret test data, making design modifications, if necessary, to meet product performance and safety requirements.
  • Work with designers on the detailed layout, prints, parts specifications, and bill of materials for the product.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for complex product, manufacturing, supplier, or field performance issues.
  • Create 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing team to define product requirements and specifications for product improvements and new product development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of activities related to product design and development.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering teams to formulate and update product design specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to other engineers and departments as needed.
  • Drive product innovations that improve efficiency, reliability and customer satisfaction
  • Influence product strategy and engineering best practices
  • Balance product performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability when developing engineering solutions

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems and components for our hydronic boilers. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional Engineering teams, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure the successful development, enhancement, validation of high-quality products throughout the life-cycle.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)


  • Design and Development:

    • Lead the design, test and development of mechanical systems and various components adhering to company and industry standards such as hydronic boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves and controls.

    • Drive design changes through engineering change management processes while ensuring product quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

Required Experience


  • 7 years of progressive mechanical engineering in product design, development or sustaining engineering. Experience in the design and development of boilers, hydronic systems or similar heating systems is a plus.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership on multiple engineering projects from concept through production, including product enhancements, sustaining engineering, and/or new product introductions.

  • Working knowledge and proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) for 3D modeling.


Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities


  • Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects from concept through production launch.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide solutions.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

  • Experience with product testing, validation, and compliance with regulatory standards, such as ASME, CSA, and ANSI

  • Experience with boiler control systems, automation, and Internet of Things (IOT) technologies is a plus.


Education & Certifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.


Travel & Working Environment


  • Work in an office environment, able to use a computer, provide oral and written communication.

  • Manufacturing Environment frequently requires use of foot and eye protection when in production areas.
