Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems for hydronic boilers. You will collaborate with Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain to sustain high‑quality products throughout their life cycle.

You will drive changes, analyze test data, and create 3‑D models and drawings using SolidWorks or Creo, while mentoring other engineers and supporting product innovations that improve efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
  • Experience with boilers or hydronic/heating systems is a plus.
  • Strong CAD modeling and drawing creation capabilities.

  • Lead design, testing, and development of mechanical systems and components (boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, controls).
  • Drive changes through change-management processes ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Create 3-D models and engineering drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo).

Job Summary

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at SPX, you will lead the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems and components for hydronic boilers. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain) to develop, enhance, validate, and sustain high‑quality products throughout their life cycle.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, testing, and development of mechanical systems and components (boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, controls) following company and industry standards.
  • Drive engineering changes through change‑management processes, ensuring product quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze and interpret test data, making design modifications as necessary to meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Support detailed layout, CAD drawings, part specifications, and bill of materials.
  • Investigate root cause of complex product, manufacturing, or field issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Create 3‑D models and engineering drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo).
  • Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing to define product requirements for enhancements and new product initiatives.
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure timely completion of design activities.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to update design specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to other engineers and departments.
  • Drive product innovations that improve efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Influence product strategy and engineering best practices.
  • Balance performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability when developing engineering solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in product design, development, or sustaining engineering.
  • Experience in the design and development of boilers, hydronic systems, or similar heating systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership on multiple projects from concept to production.
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo) for 3‑D modeling.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects.
  • Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Experience with product testing, validation, and compliance with ASME, CSA, ANSI standards.
  • Experience with boiler control systems, automation, and IoT technologies is a plus.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and use a computer for communication.
  • Manufacturing environment may require foot and eye protection in production areas.
