Job summary

Nbutexas is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the South of the Greater Nashville area to lead design activities for capital machinery. The role requires hands-on product design, CAD modeling, and analytical work with vendors and customers.

The candidate should have a strong background in heavy machinery, DFx methods, and effective technical communication to drive successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering; MS preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience with MS, or 8 years with BS plus leadership experience.
• 3D CAD modeling/drawing with Autodesk Inventor preferred.
• Ability to perform structural FEA using MSC Nastran or similar.
• Strong communication skills, including advanced technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and drawing reviews for heavy machinery, preferably food processing equipment.
• Apply DFM, DFSS, and DFMA methods.
• Design components for machining, sheet metal, welding, CNC, and related processes using Inventor.
• Occasional travel (25%) to client sites for support and troubleshooting.
• Deliver presentations to cross-functional teams and management.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced senior mechanical engineer in the South of the Greater Nashville area. The Senior Mechanical Engineer performs hands-on product design, computer analysis, and technical development for new capital machinery products and technologies using successful interaction with vendors, internal team members, and customers.

Sr Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

• Lead Design and Drawing Reviews, Heavy machinery, preferably food processing equipment
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), and Design for Manufacturing Assembly (DFMA).
• Design components to be manufactured via machining, sheet metal bending/rolling, welding, CNC machining and other related processes using Autodesk Inventor CAD models and drawings.
• Occasional travel (25%) to client sites for support and troubleshooting
• Deliver presentations to cross-functional teams and management

Sr Mechanical Engineer Requirements:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering minimum, Masters preferred
• minimum of 5 years of experience with M.S., or 8 years with B.S. plus leadership experience
• 3D CAD modeling/drawing with AutoDesk Inventor preferred
• Ability to perform structural FEA using MSC Nastran or similar, to accurately predict performance.
• Strong communication skills - including advanced technical writing
