Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the South of the Greater Nashville area. This role involves hands-on product design, computer analysis, and development for new capital machinery products with collaboration across vendors, internal teams, and customers.

Responsibilities include leading design reviews, applying DFx/DFSS/DFMA, and designing components for machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication. Occasional travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and FEA.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and drawing reviews for heavy machinery, preferably food processing equipment.
• Apply DFx, DFSS, and DFMA in design.
• Design components for machining, sheet metal, welding, CNC, and other processes using Inventor drawings.
• Travel up to 25% to client sites for support and troubleshooting.
• Deliver presentations to cross-functional teams and management.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced senior mechanical engineer in the South of the Greater Nashville area. The Senior Mechanical Engineer performs hands-on product design, computer analysis, and technical development for new capital machinery products and technologies using successful interaction with vendors, internal team members, and customers.

Sr Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

• Lead Design and Drawing Reviews, Heavy machinery, preferably food processing equipment
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), and Design for Manufacturing Assembly (DFMA).
• Design components to be manufactured via machining, sheet metal bending/rolling, welding, CNC machining and other related processes using Autodesk Inventor CAD models and drawings.
• Occasional travel (25%) to client sites for support and troubleshooting
• Deliver presentations to cross-functional teams and management

Sr Mechanical Engineer Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering minimum, Masters preferred
• minimum of 5 years of experience with M.S., or 8 years with B.S. plus leadership experience
• 3D CAD modeling/drawing with AutoDesk Inventor preferred
• Ability to perform structural FEA using MSC Nastran or similar, to accurately predict performance.
• Strong communication skills - including advanced technical writing
