Job summary

BlueLinx Holdings Inc. is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to support our distribution center operations in Des Moines. You will safely load and unload materials, operate forklift equipment, and ensure accurate handling of building products.

The role requires at least one year of forklift/warehouse experience, the ability to lift up to 75 lbs, and the discipline to follow safety guidelines. We offer a Monday–Friday schedule, competitive pay at $22.40 per hour, and a comprehensive

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport product, load/unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently, at times under pressure.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Detail oriented and organized, basic math skills.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.
