Job summary

BlueLinx Holdings Inc. in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our distribution center. You will operate a forklift, load/unload materials, and maintain a clean, safe work area.

This role supports distribution and shipping paperwork, participates in inventory counts, and adheres to safety guidelines. One year of forklift/warehouse experience preferred; physical task of lifting up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Must be able to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift in compliance with safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars with minimal damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working and assigned area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate a forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.


• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.


• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)


• Prepare paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.


• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.


• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working and assigned area.


• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For:

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience


• Ability to proficiently and safely use a forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks


• Ability to understand and follow directions


• Ability to work independently at times under pressure


• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.


• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.


• Safe work record and stable work history
