JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
The Senior Materials Analyst is responsible for managing the material, transportation, and inventory needs of two customers on the DT Program. Managing inventory, freight, and ensuring on-time delivery to these customers is essential in this role.
The Senior Materials Analyst will also analyze the plant's entire freight spend weekly, monthly, and yearly, along with forecasts and continuous improvement initiatives.
Senior Materials Analyst Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle.
- Manage demand, production scheduling, and customer service for multiple customers/products.
- Provide backup support to current Master Schedulers, including vacation backfill.
- Establish supply chain parameters to ensure 100% on-time delivery of requirements with appropriate inventory levels to mitigate variation.
- Create weekly forecasts and sales/operations planning data.
- Perform other duties as necessary for the effective operation of the department.
- Conduct cycle counts of assigned parts and ensure documentation follows the Adient cycle count process.
- Report weekly freight accruals and forecasts to finance.
- Manage freight KPIs in weekly indicators meetings.
- Analyze over/under freight performance to meet weekly targets.
- Perform annual freight 12-month forecasts and adjust throughout the year as volumes change.
- Manage freight exceptions and corrections for accurate billing.
- Oversee scrap trailer and recycling efforts at the plant.
- Support trailer or freight damage investigations.
- Manage trailer lot KPIs and escalations.
- Oversee compliance and root cause analysis for premium freight.
- Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives in freight and inventory management.
- Serve as the plant super-administrator for Yard Management System, Trailer Utilization System, and Surgere.
- Lead the shipping/receiving team, ensure process adherence, and conduct regular audits.
- Set schedules for shipping and receiving clerks and approve their timecards.
- Supervise four direct reports and conduct semi-annual and annual performance reviews.
- Update Fuel Surcharge (FSC) monthly in freight outlook.
- Manage customer schedule variations and recover premium freight costs as needed.
- Monitor the accuracy and integrity of all material-related records maintained by subordinates.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
- Maintain excellent customer relations, including supplier delivery performance.
- Review subordinate job performance to facilitate employee training and development per company policy.
- Document and manage supplier delivery performance metrics such as on-time delivery, shipment accuracy, and packaging issues.
- Ensure conformance to all BOS and IATF requirements applicable to the position.
- Maintain compliance with all company customs processes and procedures.
- Participate in weekly/monthly events such as plant-wide meetings, pre-shift meetings, department meetings, and training exercises.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; supply chain management degree preferred.
- At least two years of experience in inventory management, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Prior Tier 1 JIT experience is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications, including Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems (QAD preferred) and WMS.
