Description

The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) Operations organization oversees the manufacturing of high-quality packaging and robotics systems, ensuring materials are delivered efficiently to enable automated solutions. This fast-paced, data-driven operation collaborates globally across Amazon. We seek a talented Manufacturing Test Development Engineer with proven expertise in implementing top-tier test techniques within complex manufacturing environments. Reporting to the Technical Operations team, your responsibilities will include developing and implementing test strategies for new products, focusing on automation, cycle time reduction, and quality improvement. You will work closely with engineering teams, manufacturing partners, junior test engineers, and external vendors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective products.

Key job responsibilities
  • Support and foster a culture of inclusion.
  • Lead development of electrical test strategies, equipment, and programming for acceptance testing of automation and robotic systems.
  • Define Design for Test requirements and collaborate with engineering and ODM partners.
  • Guide manufacturing test development with external vendors.
  • Document test procedures, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Deploy testing solutions with manufacturing partners.
  • Support deployed products and tests with suppliers.
  • Analyze defect feedback from field sites to improve testing processes.
  • Propose design changes to enhance manufacturability and testability.
  • Evaluate and approve electrical ECOs.
  • Be adaptable and hands-on in a small team environment.
  • Travel up to 30% as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • BSEE or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in fast-paced environments requiring multitasking.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of test equipment, fixture design, and ATE.
  • Experience with test strategy development for automation solutions.
  • Strong software skills for test case development and control solutions.
  • Electrical debug and circuit design experience.
  • Experience designing electrical test interfaces.
  • Support for multiple skill sets and external manufacturing partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 15+ years of experience.
  • Experience with automated packaging systems and industrial controls.
  • Knowledge of sensor systems, PLC programming, and circuit debugging.
  • RF testing experience, including Wi-Fi, LTE, GPS.
  • Proficiency in Ladder Logic, C#, Python, NI TestStand, LabVIEW.
  • Experience with Linux OS testing and data analysis tools like Minitab or JMP.
