Your tasks

• The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer directs, coordinates and actively participates in the effort to continuously improve the production system. The incumbent develops manufacturing processes, tools, machinery and plant layouts for the cost-effective manufacturing of the company’s products.
• Works with Production Managers to improve efficiencies and through-put.
• Conducts Root Cause Analysis for problem solving.
• Ensures optimum utilization of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools by assisting in preparation of feasibility studies and ensuring that the costs incurred are justified.
• Evaluates various improvements that need to be done and creates value analysis determining possible ways to reduce costs in the engineering and manufacturing applications.
• Identifies methodology and processes to increase productivity and efficiency.
• Manages major projects, including management of outside vendors to facilitate timely completion.
• Assists in training of personnel in new equipment start up.
• Troubleshoots problems as necessary.
• Conducts time studies to ensure optimum and accurate standards for new and existing products.
• Assists in analyzing and selecting equipment to be purchased.
• Identifies processes where automation may be justified.
• Leads training of personnel in new equipment start-up.
• Works with Product Engineering on manufacturability of product.
• Keeps abreast of new technology in areas of equipment, processes and automation.
• Assures all environmental regulations are followed.
• Develops methods and makes recommendations that would help in reducing cost without compromising on the quality standards to ensure increased efficiency and quality.
• Trains other Manufacturing Engineers
• Reviews machinery and processes to maximize capacities.
• Works with all departments within and outside the plant to resolve matters related to engineering.
• Adheres to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 Safety certification requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Your profile

• Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills with all levels within the organization.
• Proficient in Microsoft software package.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, NX or SolidWorks, PLM, InTouch, FEA software, Office Suite
• Project Management skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Project and/or Smartsheet.
• High-energy individual who is goal-oriented and results-driven.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Proven self-starter: takes the initiative to identify and drive change.
• Ability to plan time, manage deadlines, and multi-task.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use measurement equipment to include calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Knowledge of processing materials through various types (makes) of extrusion and injection molding machines.
• Strong and analytical skills.
• Education and Experience:
• BS in Mechanical, Plastics/Polymers or Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience in plastic extrusion.
• Preferred MS in Engineering.
• Six (6) to ten (10) years’ relevant experience in Manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis techniques.
• Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
• Exposure to machine noise.
• Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production area.
• Working conditions are normal for a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
• Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots.
• This role may require walking in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
