Job summary

RTX is seeking a qualified engineer to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for 3D metal parts used in radar and sensor programs. The role emphasizes defining materials, fixturing, multi-axis CNC programming, inspection plans, and robust corrective actions with CORE/6-Sigma methods.

You'll work with Operations and other engineering disciplines on process development, quality improvement, and automated solution integration, including NC program validation using Vericut and Cimco Edit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with high-speed machining and CNC tools.
  • Ability to read GD&T drawings.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Security clearance eligibility required.

Responsibilities

  • Translate engineering designs into manufacturing process docs including raw material, fixturing, CNC programs, inspection plans, and assembly instructions.
  • Support process improvements using data analysis, best practices, and innovative solutions to improve capability and reduce costs.
  • Design, control, and improve manufacturing processes with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Perform process development on new product introductions with accelerated time to market.
  • Optimize CNC programs using modelling to identify inefficiencies and apply new techniques.
  • Integrate automated part handling and in-machine work holding.
  • Support continuous improvement and document standard methods for CNC machining.
  • Review SPC data to identify defects before they occur and address them.

Job description

Job Summary

This is a 3rd shift position which includes a 12% shift premium. The role involves developing comprehensive manufacturing processes for 3D metal parts used in radar, integrated sensor, and effector programs. Responsibilities include defining materials, developing work‑holding solutions, creating multi‑axis CNC machining programs, developing inspection plans, and creating process instructions for operators. The candidate will assess process failures, disposition non‑conforming hardware, and create and execute robust Root Cause/Corrective Action plans to permanently solve problems. Close cooperation with the Operations team and other engineering disciplines is required.

Responsibilities
  • Translate engineering design requirements into formal manufacturing process documentation, including raw material definition, fixturing/tooling development, CNC programming, inspection planning, finishing requirements, and assembly instructions.
  • Support process improvements using data analysis, best practices, and innovative solutions to improve process capability and decrease cost.
  • Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process through collaboration with a multi‑disciplined team.
  • Perform process development on new product introductions with an accelerated time to market.
  • Optimize CNC programs using machining modelling and analysis tools to identify inefficiencies and apply new techniques.
  • Integrate automated solutions for part handling and in‑machine work holding.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and document standard methodologies and standard work for CNC machining.
  • Review metrology and statistical process control (SPC) data to identify and address potential defects before they occur.
  • Validate NC programs using CGTech Vericut and Cimco Edit.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues alongside Quality and Operations personnel and apply CORE/6‑sigma methods to determine Root Cause and apply Corrective Actions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of high‑speed machining techniques, cutting tools, and CNC machine tool capabilities.
  • Ability to correctly interpret engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CNC programming experience for machines with 4 or more axes.
  • ICAM post‑processor development.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Creo CAD/CAM Software.
  • Process familiarity with paint, plating, and structural assembly.
  • Results‑oriented focus on past projects to evaluate success.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply CORE principles and techniques.
  • Active DoD Security Clearance.

Compensation

Salary range: 86,800 USD – 165,200 USD.
