Job summary

ASHFORD CONNEX in Milwaukee seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the setup and optimization of the assembly line for new products and process changes. You will bridge design and production, drive line balance and pFMEA considerations, and implement standardized methods across shifts.

The role emphasizes Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement to reduce waste, improve safety, and cut costs, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager within a large organization.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required; MS preferred.
• 5–12 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a large assembly operation.
• Proficient CAD tools (Pro-E/Creo), Word, Excel, and Access.
• Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience establishing assembly lines from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead setup of the assembly line, establish processes and documentation.
• Bring mobile equipment products from design hand-off to production.
• Plan and lead introduction of products to the manufacturing floor; integrate into lines with awareness of line balance, pFMEA, and efficiency.
• Develop Operations Method Standards for best assembly methods.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement to reduce waste.
• Troubleshoot production line problems and drive corrective actions.
• Lead initiatives to mitigate risk, maintain ISO compliance, and reduce costs.
• Lead design initiatives within manufacturing, including layout and tooling.
• Justify capital equipment investments.
• Promote safety and ergonomics improvements.

This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

• Take the lead on setup assembly line, establish processes and documentation
• Bring mobile equipment products from design hand-off to completion
• Plan, support, and lead introduction of products to the manufacturing floor. Manages the integration of new products into existing lines with an understanding of new processes that affect online balance, pFMEA, and line efficiency.
• Lead the development of Operation Method Standards (i.e. how best to assemble products)
• Uses advanced understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts needed for reduction of waste within manufacturing processes
• Troubleshoot production line problems
• Lead initiatives that mitigate risk, maintain ISO compliance, and reduce costs
• Lead design initiatives within the manufacturing process, including line / cell layout, tooling and part flow
• Capital equipment justification
• Work to advance safety and ergonomic practices

What they are looking for

• BS Engineering, a Master's would be great
• 5 to 12 years of experience in manufacturing engineering in a large assembly operation
• Proficient computer skills including CAD (Pro‑E / Creo would be great), Word, Excel, and Access
• Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma
• Ideally, prior experience establishing in assembly line from concept into production
