Job summary

Joseph Michaels International is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in the Milwaukee area to develop, implement, and improve factory processes. You will bridge design engineering and the production floor to enable new products and changes, while maintaining production capability, quality, and safety.

The role focuses on reducing costs and maximizing throughput, leading line initiatives, and supporting ISO compliance. A BS in engineering and 5–12 years in a large assembly environment are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required; master's preferred.
• 5–12 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a large assembly operation.
• Proficient with CAD tools (Pro/E/Creo) and MS Office suite.
• Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on setting up assembly lines, establishing processes and documentation.
• Bridge design engineering to the production floor to enable new product introductions.
• Plan, support and lead product introductions to the manufacturing floor and integrate new processes.
• Lead development of operation method standards for efficient assembly.
• Apply Lean and Continuous Improvement to reduce waste and improve line balance and safety.
• Troubleshoot production line problems and drive cost reduction and ISO compliance.
• Lead line/cell layout, tooling and part flow initiatives; justify capital equipment.
• Advance safety and ergonomic practices on the shop floor.

What you will be doing:

• Take the lead on setup assembly line, establish processes and documentation
• Bring mobile equipment products from design hand-off to completion
• Plan, support, and lead introduction of products to the manufacturing floor. Manages the integration of new products into existing lines with an understanding of new processes that affect online balance, pFMEA, and line efficiency.
• Lead the development of Operation Method Standards (i.e. how best to assemble products)
• Uses advanced understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts needed for reduction of waste within manufacturing processes
• Troubleshoot production line problems
• Lead initiatives that mitigate risk, maintain ISO compliance, and reduce costs
• Lead design initiatives within the manufacturing process, including line / cell layout, tooling and part flow
• Capital equipment justification
• Work to advance safety and ergonomic practices

What they are looking for

• BS Engineering, a Master's would be great
• 5 to 12 years of experience in manufacturing engineering in a large assembly operation
• Proficient computer skills including CAD (Pro‑E / Creo would be great), Word, Excel, and Access
• Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma
• Ideally, prior experience establishing in assembly line from concept into production
