Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Manager, SEO + GEO based in the United States.

Lead innovative search strategies that help B2B technology and services brands increase their visibility across traditional search engines and AI-generated answers. In this role, you will combine deep technical SEO expertise with emerging Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) practices to drive measurable business outcomes for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will shape strategy, oversee complex projects, and translate search insights into actionable recommendations across content, public relations, web, social, and paid media. Working in a collaborative, integrated marketing environment, you will partner with clients, senior strategists, and multidisciplinary teams to improve discoverability and authority. You will also mentor colleagues, experiment with new approaches, and help evolve how search performance is measured. This opportunity is ideal for a proactive, curious leader who thrives in a fast-paced agency setting.

Accountabilities
  • Develop SEO and GEO strategies: Collaborate with account leads and senior strategists to understand client offerings, target audiences, and business objectives, translating these insights into practical search strategies and clear priorities.
  • Manage projects and deliverables: Oversee multiple client workstreams, coordinate timelines, delegate tasks to interns and SEO specialists, and review deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and timely execution.
  • Lead technical audits: Assess crawlability, indexing, rendering, site architecture, internal linking, structured data, and accessibility for relevant search engines and AI crawlers. Partner with web teams to implement and validate improvements.
  • Conduct search and audience research: Investigate keywords, buyer questions, AI prompts, competitors, and the publications and communities influencing AI-generated answers. Translate findings into content, website, and authority-building recommendations.
  • Guide content optimization: Develop content briefs, outlines, and optimization recommendations that align with business goals and audience needs while improving organic search performance and visibility in AI-generated answers.
  • Measure performance and report insights: Build measurement plans and oversee reporting on organic visibility, qualified traffic, conversions, AI visibility, share of voice, brand mentions, citations, and competitor activity. Explain results and measurement limitations while recommending actionable next steps.
  • Advise clients: Participate in onboarding, strategy discussions, and reporting conversations. Communicate complex search concepts clearly to practitioners and senior executives, provide consultative recommendations, and help resolve challenges.
  • Collaborate across marketing disciplines: Work with public relations, content, social, paid media, web, analytics, and client services teams to connect search insights with integrated marketing initiatives and identify opportunities for broader client support.
  • Coach and develop colleagues: Provide guidance, training, and constructive feedback to team members on research, technical SEO and GEO methods, reporting, and performance interpretation. Support interns or direct reports as needed.
  • Coordinate execution: Partner with account leads to align scope, priorities, deadlines, and resources, proactively communicating changes and maintaining accountability for assigned work.
  • Apply AI responsibly: Use AI assistants to support research, analysis, and idea development, validating sources and outputs before applying professional judgment to recommendations and workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Stay current with search engine developments, AI discovery tools, analytics, and broader marketing trends. Test new approaches, share findings, and turn successful experiments into repeatable practices.
Requirements
  • Relevant SEO experience: A strong track record in search engine optimization, with substantial contributions to complex client programs and demonstrated results. Five or more years of relevant experience is a useful guideline, with emphasis on the depth and quality of experience.
  • GEO and AEO expertise: Practical experience improving visibility in AI-generated answers through audits, optimization, and measurement, along with a commitment to experimenting as generative search continues to evolve.
  • Technical SEO proficiency: Deep knowledge of technical SEO and the ability to investigate issues, develop clear implementation recommendations for developers, and verify that fixes work as intended.
  • Strategic search judgment: Strong expertise across audience research, keyword and prompt analysis, content optimization, site architecture, authority development, and performance measurement, with the ability to connect technical details to broader marketing objectives.
  • Analytics and research tools: Confidence using Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), website crawling tools, SEO research platforms, and AI visibility tools. Ability to analyze raw data, identify meaningful patterns, and explain insights in the context of client goals.
  • Client and business understanding: Ability to quickly learn clients' products, services, buyer personas, business models, content management systems, analytics environments, and related platforms to recommend feasible improvements.
  • Communication and writing: Excellent writing, presentation, and client communication skills, including the ability to prepare polished recommendations, explain trade-offs, ask insightful questions, and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
  • Project and team leadership: Experience managing several client priorities, coordinating cross-functional teams, delegating work, reviewing deliverables, and maintaining high standards under changing deadlines.
  • Consultative mindset: Proactive problem-solving, sound judgment, curiosity, and a strong customer focus, with the ability to anticipate needs and translate challenges into practical solutions.

Benefits
