Job summary

SoftBank Group International is seeking a seasoned Interface Management Lead for the Portsmouth program in the US. The role drives conversion of interface management into an operating discipline, assigns ownership, dates, decisions, and handoffs across EPC/EPCM, OEMs, utilities, and external stakeholders.

You will lead cross-functional reviews, manage critical interfaces across generation and delivery, and ensure coordination with engineering and procurement for timely resolution and field

Qualifications

About the role:

Own the Portsmouth project interface-management system and drive closure of the cross-functional, contractual, technical, physical, schedule, and organizational interfaces that create execution risk. This role converts interface management from a register into an operating discipline that assigns ownership, dates, decisions, handoffs, and escalation paths across the owner team, EPC/EPCM contractors, utilities, OEMs, infrastructure providers, and external stakeholders.

What success looks like in the first 6-12 months

• Single interface-management framework, register, ownership model, and escalation process operating across the program. Critical interfaces across generation, transmission/interconnection, water, gas/fuel, site infrastructure, permitting,
• OEM packages, tenants/customers, and EPC/EPCM scopes assigned and actively managed.
• Interface agreements, battery limits, inputs/outputs, required-by dates, and decision dependencies reflected in engineering, procurement, construction, and the integrated master schedule.
• High-risk interfaces reviewed routinely with accountable owners and unresolved items escalated before they affect critical path or field execution.
• DOR/RACI and contractor handoffs remain current as scopes, contracts, organizations, and execution sequencing evolve.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and administer the owner-side interface-management strategy, procedure, register, governance cadence, and escalation model.
• Identify and structure technical, physical, contractual, schedule, information, organizational, and external interfaces across all major Portsmouth workstreams.
• Assign interface owners, counterparties, deliverables, required-by dates, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and closure evidence; challenge ambiguous or ownerless interfaces.
• Lead recurring interface reviews with Project Delivery, Engineering, Program Controls, Procurement, Commercial, Permitting, Construction, utilities, Owner Engineer, PMO, EPC/EPCM, and OEM teams.
• Ensure battery limits and scope boundaries are explicit across EPC/EPCM packages, owner-furnished equipment, transmission/interconnection, gas/fuel, water, enabling works, controls, commissioning, and tenant/customer requirements.
• Coordinate with Program Controls so key interface milestones, constraints, dependencies, and decision dates are embedded in the integrated master schedule and risk process.
• Coordinate with Engineering & Technical to drive timely resolution of multidisciplinary design interfaces, technical inputs, design criteria, vendor data, and utility requirements.
• Coordinate with Commercial and Procurement where unresolved interfaces create scope gaps, change exposure, claims risk, procurement ambiguity, or contractual responsibility questions.
• Support construction and commissioning readiness by confirming interface closure before work-front release, system turnover, energization, startup, and performance testing.
• Escalate unresolved or conflicting interfaces with clear facts, owner/counterparty position, schedule/cost

consequence, recommended decision, and latest responsible date.

• Project Director, Delivery; Director, Engineering & Technical; Director, Program Controls & Governance; Commercial; Procurement; Permitting; Gas/Fuel Supply; Construction/Site Delivery; Operations.
• PMO, Owner Engineer, EPC/EPCM contractors, OEMs, utility/interconnection teams, gas and water providers, site development partners, commissioning teams, and external consultants.
• Tenant/customer technical teams, local agencies, infrastructure providers, and SoftBank functions where owner decisions or shared responsibilities affect execution.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience on large capital projects in power, utilities, oil and gas, transmission, industrial infrastructure, data centers, or comparable complex programs.
• Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary interfaces across owner, EPC/EPCM, OEM, utility, consultant, and external stakeholder organizations.
• Strong understanding of interface registers, battery limits, DOR/RACI, schedule dependencies, change control, design coordination, construction readiness, and commissioning handoffs.
• Experience identifying scope gaps and resolving issues that cross engineering, procurement, commercial, schedule, permitting, construction, and operations boundaries.
• Strong facilitation and executive communication skills with ability to force clarity without creating unnecessary process.
• Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization and drive closure without full line authority.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with gas-fired power generation, transmission/substations, utility interconnections, gas pipelines, water infrastructure, or hyperscale data center programs.
• Experience on multi-billion-dollar EPC/EPCM programs with multiple prime contractors and owner-furnished equipment packages.
• PMP, PgMP, PE, AACE, or equivalent project/engineering credential.
• Experience with interface-management or requirements-management systems integrated with PMIS, schedule, document control, or risk tools.
• Experience supporting commissioning, energization, system turnover, and operations-readiness interfaces.
