Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Fulfillment Center operations at our Sauget site. You will drive budgetary decisions, people development and operational performance, coaching a team of Operations and Area Managers to exceed targets.

You will foster Lean initiatives, align resources, and ensure safety, quality, and customer experience while coordinating with HR, Finance, Facilities and IT to support strategic programs and improvements across shifts and sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • 7+ years of managing large projects or leading logistics/fulfillment operations.
  • Proven ability to deliver results, set strategy and run a high-volume business.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
  • Experience with staffing lifecycle: interviewing, hiring, performance mgmt, promotions, terminations.
  • Strong analytical, detail-oriented and communication skills; troubleshoot tech systems.
  • Ability to oversee third-party resources and large contingent workforce programs.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours including overnights, weekends and holidays.

Job description

Our Senior Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development and operations objectives. The Site Leader is responsible for all aspects of operation or functions at the site. Additional responsibilities include managing and leading a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations and building leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center.

Key job responsibilities
  • Drivers creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the FC to meet and exceed business plan.
  • Responsible for the overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience of either Inbound or Outbound operations.
  • Will set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds Ops Managers accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments.
  • Leverages the Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans for the functional area.
  • Takes proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments, shifts and among the network.
  • Works closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other Sr. Operations Managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in their area, as well as providing needed support and resources for other staff initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years of directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects experience, or experience in Logistics, Distribution or Fulfillment processes
  • Experience delivering results, setting strategy, and running a large volume and high profile business
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques
  • Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
  • Can show strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing third party resources on a regional/national scale
  • Experience leading large contingent workforce programs
  • Work flexible hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment similar to a high-tech start-up
  • Experience working with changing priorities and schedules
  • Interest in long-term career development

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
