Senior Manager of Network Engineering
The Senior Manager of Network Engineering will be responsible for leading and managing a geographically diverse team of network engineers. They will oversee the design, implementation, optimization, security, and maintenance of Comerica’s large-scale network infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud. This role involves managing key vendor relationships, budgets, and the strategic direction of network engineering initiatives. The incumbent will provide technical leadership and direction to drive network innovation, as well as training, mentoring, coaching, and leadership for network engineers.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategy
- Partner with corporate functional leaders to execute a technology strategy that enhances overall business capabilities.
- Stay informed of technology industry trends and best practices.
- Continuously transform the organization to increase efficiencies and reduce expenses.
- Collaborate with the innovation team to test and evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to enhance business capabilities.
Delivery Planning and Execution
- Create, prioritize, plan, and execute portfolio and product roadmaps in collaboration with Product Management and DevOps teams.
- Adjust project priorities as needed based on shifting organizational needs.
- Aim to complete 90% of projects within 5-10% of the approved budget and within one month of baselined completion dates.
- Reduce time to market by utilizing Agile methodologies.
- Develop risk profiles, mitigation plans, and contingency strategies based on broad experience.
Technology/Operational/Risk Control
- Lead integration and synergy between architecture, technology planning, and development initiatives.
- Cultivate disciplined system management practices, including clear roles and responsibilities, documented processes, and detailed deployment planning.
- Ensure compliance and control activities support technological and enterprise objectives, aligned with risk tolerances.
- Implement processes and controls to enhance system performance, security, reliability, and availability.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and compliance through documented policies and procedures.
Leadership
- Lead large technical project teams or programs across the enterprise.
- Manage financials with attention to budgets, cost discipline, and financial performance.
- Develop and motivate a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative environment with shared goals.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top talent.
- Work with senior leaders to evolve organizational culture and elevate technology as a strategic partner.
- Act as the principal technology advisor within the organization and champion IT transformation initiatives.
