Job description

Senior Endpoint Security Engineer

The Sr. Endpoint Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring the security of all devices connected to the network. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of host operating systems, including a profound understanding of their functions and security controls. Responsibilities include reviewing and testing current operating system configurations to develop strategies to mitigate risks and strengthen the organization's security posture. The engineer will maintain and enforce endpoint security policies and standards aligned with corporate governance, security risk management, audit policies, procedures, industry regulations, best practices, and security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS. This role also involves designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect endpoints from cyber threats, including but not limited to Endpoint Security Engineering, File Integrity Monitoring (FIM), Antivirus (AV)/Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Endpoint Management, and Security Automation.

The Cybersecurity Engineering function supports the design and implementation of security architecture patterns within Comerica, including the deployment and advanced support of critical control systems, security platforms, and associated processes. The team collaborates closely with Cyber Defense and Technology teams to enable and support systems.

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer ensures the delivery of engineering efforts for complex systems, focusing on continual risk reduction through advanced security engineering principles. The role includes owning core competencies and platforms, providing expert support, and mentoring junior staff for departmental success.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Cybersecurity Engineering
  2. Analyzing technical roadmaps with emphasis on risk reduction and business enablement.
  3. Enhancing documentation, processes, and procedures to meet audit requirements and improve response times.
  4. Providing expert incident and security response support, coordinating with junior staff and managers.
  5. Owning risks or control gaps and overseeing tactical remediation plans.
  6. Participating in strategic planning with senior staff and managers.
  7. Configuring security platforms or tools to improve security and reduce risks.
Communication and Collaboration
  1. Providing feedback on risk mechanisms, gap analysis, and knowledge management.
  2. Managing resources with vendors, operations, and management for sustainability.
  3. Overseeing automation, control design, and service resiliency efforts by junior staff.
  4. Translating security requirements, assessing risks, and ensuring project delivery.
  5. Collaborating with stakeholders to develop security solutions.
  6. Supporting changes to enhance Cyber Engineering services.
  7. Working with other teams to troubleshoot and respond to events.
  8. Guiding junior staff on escalation and communication patterns.
  9. Presenting project updates and gathering feedback from management.
Planning and Administration
  1. Evaluating projects and designing processes to improve solutions.
  2. Proposing alternative solutions to meet application needs.
  3. Managing requirements for solutions, conducting cost, feasibility, and risk analyses.
  4. Providing timely reports to management.
  5. Participating in departmental committees and staying updated on cybersecurity technologies.
