Job summary

Charles Schwab Corporation in Westlake, Texas, is seeking a Senior Manager, External Communications to shape how Schwab Advisor Services and Workplace Services communicate with clients and industry audiences. You will translate complex priorities into speeches, talking points, and client-facing content, coordinating across teams to ensure timely, consistent, and impactful messaging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7+ years of experience in executive communications, corporate communications, or a closely related field.
• Experience supporting executive communications including speeches, talking points, presentations, and external remarks for senior leaders.
• Experience developing client or stakeholder communications on behalf of senior executives, with careful attention to audience, tone, and relationship dynamics.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, including translating complex ideas into clear, compelling content and adapting to different leadership voices.
• Strong business acumen and discretion handling sensitive information.
• Strong project management, organization, and priority management skills.

Responsibilities

As Senior Manager, External Communications, you’ll play a key role in shaping how senior leaders across Schwab Advisor Services and Workplace Services communicate with clients, industry audiences, and other key stakeholders. Working within Corporate Affairs, you’ll translate complex business priorities into clear, compelling speeches, presentations, talking points, thought leadership, and client-facing communications that capture each leader’s authentic voice and strengthen Schwab’s story.

You’ll serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders while owning high-profile initiatives from strategy through execution. This includes preparing leaders for key client and industry engagements, coordinating communications across teams and channels, and maintaining an integrated view of announcements, events, and leadership commitments. You’ll anticipate needs, navigate changing priorities, and identify opportunities to strengthen messaging, address potential risks, and ensure communications are timely, consistent, and impactful.

Success in this role requires exceptional writing and storytelling skills, strong business judgment, discretion, and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders, chiefs of staff, and Corporate Affairs partners. What you have

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7+ years of experience in executive communications, corporate communications, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience supporting executive communications, including speeches, talking points, presentations, and external remarks for senior leaders.
• Experience developing client or stakeholder communications on behalf of senior executives, with careful attention to audience, tone, and relationship dynamics.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, including the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling content and adapt to different leadership voices.
• Strong business acumen and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Strong project management, organization, and priority management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple communications and deadlines accurately.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships, solve problems, and adapt quickly within a complex, fast-moving environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with or interest in financial services, the Registered Investment Advisor industry, or workplace benefits.
• Experience preparing senior leaders for client, industry, conference, or other high-profile speaking engagements.
• Experience collaborating across Corporate Affairs, media relations, thought leadership, and business teams to deliver integrated external communications.

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
