Job summary

Cadence is an open source microservice orchestration platform developed at Uber and adopted by many leading companies. We seek a Sr Engineering Manage with experience building and leading highly scalable, high throughput, low latency, multi tenant backend systems.

You will lead a backend engineering team, mentor and grow engineers, shape technical strategy, and collaborate with engineers, product partners, and the Cadence community to deliver cutting edge distributed technology.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing software engineering organizations, including experience managing engineering managers.
• Strong background building backend infrastructure and distributed systems
• Experience with highly scalable, high throughput, low latency, multi tenant systems
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and system design
• Experience working with multiple programming languages, e.g. Go, Java, or C++
• Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to guide architectural decisions, establish technical strategy, and drive consensus across stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product partners, and technical leaders
• Experience managing complex, multi-team projects and delivering high quality software
• BS degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field. Masters/Ph.D. preferred
• 10+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including experience managing engineering teams

• Deep knowledge of modern observability, storage, provisioning technologies
• Experience building developer platforms or infrastructure used by other engineering teams

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $267,000 per year - USD $297,000 per year.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $267,000 per year - USD $297,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
