Your Role

The Data Engineering team develops and maintains data solutions for the enterprise. Responsibilities include collaborating with IT, Portfolio and Program Management, Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance, and Analytics to understand Epics and user stories, and to manage and support technical data solutions. The Senior Manager, Data Engineering, reports to the Director, Data Engineering. This role involves managing, building, and leading our data engineering team (Development, QA & Operations), fostering professional growth, and building reliable data pipelines that facilitate efficient data movement across systems. Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires a college degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in management


• Hands-on experience with two or more of the following technologies: Snowflake, dbt, data modeling, SQL, Python


• Practical knowledge in leading and managing process, project, and tactic execution within an area


• Advanced technical or functional expertise, business acumen, financial analysis, risk management, delegation, critical thinking, and decision-making skills


• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement, facilitating discussions, and conveying complex technical concepts; ability to lead and influence stakeholders while maintaining data quality and delivering high-quality data products


• Prior knowledge of Payer Clinical data, including FHIR resources, HL7, CCDA, and HEDIS measures, with the ability to interpret clinical data, highly preferred


• Strong experience in data management, big data, master data management, data warehousing, data virtualization, data quality, reconciliation, modeling, and security


• Experience working with vendor partners and cross-functional teams in end-to-end technical delivery


• Experience in data product management, including creating roadmaps, translating business requirements into technical stories, prioritizing features, and collaborating across teams, highly desirable


• Knowledge of Blue Shield of California's mission, vision, strategy, and the healthcare industry environment, preferred
