Your Role

The Data Engineering team is engaged in developing and maintaining data solutions for the enterprise. Responsibilities include interfacing with IT, Portfolio and Program Management, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Data Governance, and Enterprise Analytics to understand Epics and user stories, and to manage and support technical data solutions. The Senior Manager, Data Engineering, reports to the Director, Data Engineering. In this role, you will manage, build, and lead our data engineering team (Development, QA & Operations) and help team members grow both technically and professionally. You will build data pipelines that efficiently and reliably move data across systems and oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Data Engineering team. Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires a college degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in management
• Hands-on experience with two or more of the following technologies: Snowflake, dbt, data modeling, SQL, and Python
• Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and tactics within an area
• Advanced technical or functional expertise, business acumen, financial analysis, risk management, delegation, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement, facilitating discussions, and conveying complex technical concepts; ability to lead and influence stakeholders while maintaining data quality and delivering high-quality data products
• Prior knowledge of Payer Clinical data, including understanding of FHIR resources, HL7, CCDA, HEDIS measures, and clinical data interpretation is highly preferred
• Strong experience in data management, big data, master data management, data warehousing, data virtualization, data quality, data reconciliation, data modeling, and data security
• Experience working with vendor partners and cross-functional teams in end-to-end technical delivery
• Experience in data product management, including creating roadmaps, translating business requirements into technical stories, prioritizing features, and collaborating across teams, is highly desirable
• In-depth knowledge of Blue Shield of California's mission, vision, strategy, and the healthcare industry environment is preferred
