Job summary

Sapporo USA, with a world-class Richmond, VA facility, seeks a Sr Maintenance Technician for 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 2:00pm-10:30pm). The role provides maintenance services to ensure safety and production schedules are met.

You will diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and control systems, document work orders, and mentor other technicians while coordinating with teams to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 7+ years in maintenance on packaging lines preferred in food/bev.
  • Ability to read/interpret LOTO docs, schematics and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and emails; communicate with team.
  • Strong safety mindset and knowledge of safety regulations and permits.

Responsibilities

We are hiring for an opening on 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm).

Summary

The Sr Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing maintenance services and repair function to facility and operations equipment to ensure safety and that production schedules are met.

Responsibilities
  • Complies with safety regulations. Assesses job hazards independently. Writes and executes LOTO and other safety permits.
  • Observes equipment in operation to prevent/diagnose potential problems.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove, repair and replace defective parts.
  • Identifies, suggests, proposes, and discusses solutions to equipment and facility issues with management.
  • Document Work Orders (WOs) and PMs using the computerized maintenance management system for Plant maintenance functions
  • Enters requisitions and orders stock parts services for proper and prompt repairs.
  • Supervises or works with contractors in repairing, troubleshooting, installing, and overhauls
  • Maintains and services electrical, mechanical, heating, and cooling systems.
  • Maintains and services plumbing, gas, air, drain and wastewater systems.
  • Produces preventive maintenance schedules, tool inventories, repair logs, lubrication logs, etc.
  • Interprets electrical drawings.
  • Troubleshoots PLCs, Controls, Motors, low to medium Voltage Equipment.
  • Performs electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic system repairs to facility and process equipment, including HVAC and refrigeration.
  • Works with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision to support production priorities.
  • Drives maintenance production in area of expertise (welding, fabrication, electrical, HVAC, controls, carpentry, etc.).
  • Utilizes expertise to develop and implement maintenance strategy for equipment. This includes creating maintenance process documentation and training operators and technicians.
  • Actively mentors’ other maintenance technicians to improve their technical knowledge and assist with developing training plans as necessary.
  • Acts as a leader when multiple technicians are focused on a single maintenance job.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize multiple tasks according to business needs.
  • Proactively coordinates maintenance activities with other departments and provides clear status updates at appropriate intervals.
  • Submits ideas for improvement of equipment and processes to support continuous improvement. Takes action on improvement ideas, tracks and communicates results.
  • Provides guidance to department maintenance technicians regarding best practices, optimal use of department tools, and proper techniques.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Develops SOP’s, JSA’s, Preventive Maintenance documents, LOTO requirements.
Requirements

  • Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent and at least 7 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic preferably on packaging lines in the food or beverage industry.
  • Computer knowledge, competent in researching issues through internet browsers, Microsoft software (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as LOTO documents, schematics, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and daily e-mails. Ability to speak effectively with team members.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The employee on occasion will lift and/or move more than 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks
  • Pay Range: $37.00 - $40.00 per hour
  • Additional Pay: Shift Differential, if applicable
