Primary Responsibilities Include
  • Troubleshoot equipment individually and through coaching of the mechanics when there is downtime. As well as assisting them to resolve mechanical issues related to equipment malfunctions and breakdowns.
  • Work with the operations department to facilitate a teamwork approach, combining the expertise and manpower of both departments for the good of the company
  • Define project priorities and provide direction to maintenance staff. Monitors team performance and audit activities to ensure personnel are performing quality work, supporting a quality product and providing service to meet goals.
  • Provide leadership to team which includes following Performance Management System, setting expectations that align to area’s business objectives and providing routine feedback on performance.
  • Provide Support of the PDCA process from cradle to grave to include problem statement, root cause analysis, and counter measure implementation.
  • Work with improvement teams to identify, evaluate, and implement reliability improvement opportunities through changes to operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and equipment upgrades.
  • Develop, post, and communicate procedures/processes for their area that support the maintenance strategies.
  • Utilize preventive and predictive maintenance techniques to minimize equipment breakdowns
  • Provide electrical and mechanical troubleshooting leadership. Understands and is capable of working with 110V up to 480V electric circuits.
  • Support and implement preventative maintenance systems. Maintains the plant PM program, reviews PM completion rate and quality of PMs being completed along with the timeliness. Determine the needs to adjust frequency of PMs along with the addition or removal of recommended PMs for particular equipment.
  • Assist in the selection process of new hires. Support the technical training program for the maintenance staff.
  • Ability to understand line control, bottle flow, and can flow to balance the line so the flow of work is at an even pace.
  • Ability to understand staffing and productivity calculations to understand measures and set targets.
  • Coordinate with production department to drive optimum performance on production lines and assists with supporting production personnel as needed.
  • Ability to analyze data with use of the computer so measures and set targets can be communicated.
  • Demonstrate a working understanding and ability to repair all plant machinery.
  • Possess the ability to troubleshoot motor wiring, switches, fuses and other common electrical failures.
  • Capability to build/fabricate steps, supports, brackets, structures, etc.
  • Train new employees that are hired in the work area assigned
  • Lead by example and assist others who may need guidance
  • Be accessible for employees to ask questions regarding area of expertise
  • Provide positive recognition to employees who exhibit good behavior in their work area
  • Provide feedback to managers on individual and team performance
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

  • Lead and support multiple employees; the Maintenance Mechanic Team reports to this position.

  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and assessing job results; coaching, and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and productivity standards.

  • Lead and support a food safety and food quality culture within the location
  • Establish, document, and communicate to all relevant staff of food safety and quality objectives and performance measures
  • Empower and encourage employees to act to resolve food safety and quality issues within their scope of work
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the food safety and quality culture within the location
  • Effectively communicate all key performance indicators and objectives to employees
  • Ensure staffing and adequate resources are maintained to meet objectives
  • Educate all staff to understand the importance of food safety and food quality controls and deviation consequences.
  • Accountable for food safety, food quality and regulatory requirements for their position
  • Encouraged to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues
  • Adopt and maintain all SQF requirements for their position
  • Empowerment to work with supervision to resolve food safety and food quality issues within their scope of work
Education And Experience
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience with various roles and progressive responsibility

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing up to 50lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
