Sr. Maintenance Technician

The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. They share knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators. The Sr. Maintenance Technician acts as a subject matter expert in at least one of the following areas: injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and/or stretch wrappers. They perform troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, and other water filtration equipment, along with general plant maintenance. They work directly with Maintenance Technicians, machine Operators, Supervisors, and Managers to resolve mechanical issues and develop best practices aligned with Niagara's maintenance strategies. They promote continuous improvement through preventative and predictive maintenance and assist in training in their focus areas.

Essential Functions

• Adhere to and enforce the highest standards in safety and good manufacturing practices plant-wide.
• Train and lead Operators, Mechanics, and Supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.
• Collaborate with plant leadership on projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and problem resolution.
• Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize downtime, conducting root cause analysis to prevent re-occurrence.
• Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross-functional problems.
• Utilize available software systems to analyze issues and improve throughput performance.
• Lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment during planned downtime to like-new condition.
• Develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in areas such as blow molding, filling/capping, labeling, dry-end packaging, and injection technology, transferring knowledge to team members.
• Create SOPs for troubleshooting machines and upload them to the BDA system; be responsible for machine reliability and mean time between failures.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance and be available on-call to ensure equipment and facility uptime.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
• 6+ years in the specific maintenance position.
• 4+ years managing people or projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
• 10+ years in the specific maintenance position.
• 6+ years managing people/projects.

Additional preferred experience includes work with specific equipment and skills in fabrication, electrical systems, and schematic interpretation.

Competencies

Focus on safety, continuous improvement, technical knowledge development, and effective communication, aligned with Niagara's LIFE competency model.

Education

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree in manufacturing or related field.

Certification/License

Not required but preferred.

Foreign Language

Not required or preferred.
