Sr. Maintenance Technician

The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. They share knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators. The Sr. Maintenance Technician acts as a subject matter expert in areas such as injection molding, blow molding, filling/capping, labeling, case packing, conveyors, palletizers, stretch wrappers, and auxiliary systems like chillers and water filtration.

They perform troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment, working directly with maintenance technicians, machine operators, supervisors, and managers. They develop and implement best practices aligned with Niagara’s maintenance strategies, champion continuous improvement efforts, and assist with training in their focus areas.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to and enforce highest safety and manufacturing standards plant-wide.
  • Train and lead operators, mechanics, and supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership on projects involving improvements, upgrades, and problem resolution.
  • Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize downtime, conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross-functional issues.
  • Use software systems to analyze issues and improve throughput performance.
  • Lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment during scheduled downtime.
  • Transfer knowledge to team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in areas such as blow molding, filling, labeling, and injection technology.
  • Create SOPs for troubleshooting machines and upload them to the BDA system.
  • Maintain regular attendance and on-call availability to ensure equipment and facility uptime.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
  • 6 years in a similar maintenance position.
  • 4 years managing people or projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance manufacturing.
  • Experience working with packaging or bottling equipment such as Krones, Husky, Sidel, etc.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; an associate's degree in manufacturing or related field preferred.

Additional qualifications include proficiency with schematics, shop equipment, and electrical systems, as well as fabrication skills and knowledge of process improvements.
