Job summary

Race Rock is seeking a Sr. Maintenance Technician to lead hands-on maintenance at our hot dip galvanizing facility.

You will troubleshoot and improve reliability of production equipment, supporting electrical, mechanical, plumbing, boilers and building operations. Responsibilities include diagnosing complex equipment (overhead cranes, motors, gearboxes, pumps), welding fixtures, loading/unloading a zinc recovery machine, maintaining filter press processes, and operating lifts.

Qualifications

• Welding experience with 2–5 years preferred.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Comfort working at heights and using lifts or elevated platforms.
• 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Advanced diagnostics of electrical and mechanical plant equipment (overhead cranes/hoists, motors, gearboxes, pumps, air compressors).
• Welding and fabricating fixtures, baskets, and racks for galvanizing process.
• Load/unload and operate an MZR (Zinc recovery) machine.
• Maintain filter press processes and operate controls.
• Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, Skid Steers & telehandlers as needed.
• Provide supervision to other technicians and assist Supervisor.

Job description

The Sr. Maintenance Technician is a hands-on technical leader responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the reliability of all production equipment associated with a Hot Dip Galvanizing Facility. This role serves as a technical expert supporting electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, boilers and overall building operations.

This position also plays a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations while supporting continuous improvement, mentoring less experienced technicians and supporting leadership in the maintenance department.

Duties Include:

• Advanced Diagnostics: Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical plant equipment, consisting of overhead cranes/hoists, motors, gearboxes, forklifts, pumps and air compressors.
• Welding: Fabricate/repair fixtures, baskets and racks used in the handling and conveyance of product through the galvanizing process.
• Loading / unloading and operating an MZR (Zinc recovery) machine.
• Maintaining filter press process, which includes cleaning the filter screens when required and understanding/operating the controls.
• Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, Skid Steers & telehandlers as needed.
• Provide supervision and leadership to other maintenance technician’s and act as Assistant Supervisor as needed.

Qualifications:

• Welding knowledge – Certificate not required but should have 2-5 years of welding experience.
• Good mechanical aptitude
• Excellent electrical troubleshooting skills (on O/H hoists is a plus)
• Be self-motivated and able to work on your own.
• Ability to operate arial lifts and work at heights of approx. 25.’
• 3 to 5 years of industrial maintenance related experience
• High regard for personal and operator safety
