Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Senior Maintenance Engineer for our client based out of Dublin, VA.
This assignment is anticipated to be a full-time permanent opportunity.
This will also have a first‑shift Monday–Friday schedule. Occasional support outside of standard business hours may be required for equipment issues and critical breakdowns.
Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and uptime across manufacturing operations.
- Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and condition‑based maintenance strategies for industrial equipment and automated systems.
- Analyze equipment failures, downtime events, and maintenance trends to identify root causes and implement long‑term corrective actions.
- Maintain and update equipment documentation, electrical schematics, and technical drawings associated with equipment modifications and upgrades.
- Develop spare parts strategies and work with inventory teams to ensure critical replacement components are available.
- Manage obsolescence risks by identifying replacement strategies for aging or obsolete equipment and components.
- Review emergency work order data and equipment performance metrics to develop reliability improvement plans.
- Participate in downtime review meetings and lead root cause investigations to reduce recurring equipment failures.
- Generate KPI reports and maintenance performance metrics using CMMS, ERP, and reporting tools.
- Work closely with equipment suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Lead maintenance engineering projects focused on eliminating chronic equipment issues and improving asset utilization.
- Provide advanced technical support to maintenance teams during troubleshooting, repairs, and major breakdown events.
- Develop technical specifications and requirements for equipment purchases, upgrades, and major repairs.
- Design and implement engineering improvements that eliminate equipment weak points and increase operational reliability.
- Support capital projects, equipment installations, and lifecycle replacement initiatives.
- Partner with project teams to ensure maintainability, reliability, and plant standards are incorporated into new equipment acquisitions.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- OR Associate degree in Electrical Engineering with significant industrial maintenance experience supporting automation, robotics, controls, and manufacturing systems.
- 4+ years of engineering experience with responsibilities related to equipment design, maintenance, reliability, or industrial systems support.
- Experience supporting industrial manufacturing equipment, automation systems, electrical controls, and maintenance operations.
- Strong background in reliability engineering, root cause analysis, and maintenance program development.
- Experience leading equipment improvement projects and driving corrective actions through completion.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance, engineering, production, suppliers, and leadership teams.
- Experience supporting capital projects and equipment lifecycle management preferred.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Experience utilizing CMMS and/or ERP systems for maintenance planning and analysis.
- Experience with Power BI for KPI development, reporting, trend analysis, and equipment performance monitoring.
- Proficiency in CAD software for reviewing and updating electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, automation controls, robotics, and equipment reliability principles.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in maintenance reliability engineering.
- Experience working within Lean Manufacturing, TPM, World Class Manufacturing, or continuous improvement environments.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and condition monitoring techniques.
- Experience leading equipment lifecycle, replacement, and modernization initiatives.
- Experience supporting highly automated manufacturing operations.
