Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is seeking a Senior Maintenance Coordinator to support the Maintenance Manager in developing and monitoring maintenance processes across facilities. The role includes on-call duties 24/7 and ensuring safe, clean, and efficient working conditions.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant HVAC/electrical certification or degreed background, and strong building systems knowledge, including the ability to read drawings and use

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • State board certified Electrical or HVAC contractor; or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of experience in commercial or institutional building systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and/or building maintenance/construction.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems (electrical, heating, etc.).
  • Experience reading electrical and mechanical drawings, wiring schemes and control diagrams.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.
  • Excellent planning and leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong Commercial HVAC and controls experience preferred.

Department Overview

Enterprise Support Services function is to provide complete operations and maintenance service support so that our physical facilities (buildings, equipment, machinery, systems and grounds) may operate at an optimum. Optimization of our facilities will promote and ensure safe, clean, and compatible working conditions for employees. Enterprise Support Services activities include building maintenance and repair, office space planning and associated move coordination, leasing administration (building/property), construction project management and Physical Security. This area also assists with corporate office moves, reconfiguration projects for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and affiliate companies.

Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Maintenance Coordinator supports the Maintenance Manager in developing, leading and monitoring processes surrounding maintenance operations. Specifically, the Senior Maintenance Coordinator provides assistance to follow cost, preventative maintenance, schedules, personnel work assignments, and special items such as major repairs and construction projects. The Senior Maintenance Coordinator is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week and must resolve any problem which occurs in any of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama facilities that would impact working conditions. These decisions are without the advice of the Maintenance Manager, if not available.

Summary Of Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • State board certified Electrical or HVAC contractor; or in lieu of State board certification, either (1) a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Science or similar field, or (2) ten years of proven facilities maintenance experience (commercial and/or institutional)
  • Three years of experience in commercial or institutional building systems
  • Knowledge and expertise in a least one of the following trades: electrical, HVAC, and/or commercial or institutional building maintenance/construction
  • Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating, etc.)
  • Experience reading electrical and mechanical drawings, wiring schemes and control diagrams
  • Experience in a position diagnosing problems in facility systems and effectively recommending solutions
  • Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project
  • Excellent planning and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Willingness to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Willingness to work on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong Commercial HVAC and controls experience preferred
Work Location

The work schedule for this position will be full-time onsite.
