Job summary

Central Transport in Atlanta, GA is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee outbound dock activities in a fast-paced LTL terminal. Lead a team of drivers and dock staff to meet production goals while ensuring safety and DOT/OSHA compliance.

The ideal candidate will have transportation or cross-docking experience, strong leadership, excellent communication, and a tech-savvy approach to optimize loads and productivity.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, cross docking, or shipping/receiving environment (LTL preferred).
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation.
• Strong leadership qualities.
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service.
• High aptitude for technology and systems used in a terminal environment.
• Ability to multi-task while being detail oriented.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Associates or Bachelors degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outbound operations for the designated section of the terminal dock.
• Manage loading, forklift traffic, and proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Supervise up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production goals.
• Use independent judgment to build loads based on labor and freight levels.
• Monitor trailer cube and weight to ensure proper load.
• Provide leadership to drivers, dock workers, and dock hands.
• Track dock production and strive to meet or exceed KPI targets.
• Monitor hours and overtime while maintaining safety and DOT/OSHA compliance.

LOCATION: 2700 Moreland Ave SE Atlanta, GA 30315

Shift: 12:00 AM - 10:00 AM Tuesday-Saturday

Salary: $60,000-$75,000

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation
• Strong leadership qualities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee outbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock
• This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
