Job summary

98% of time on the production floor, with regular interaction with associates, HR involvement as needed, and collaboration across the Line Centric Organization to meet daily targets and top losses reductions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing role with advanced automation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate resources and priorities within the shift.
  • Make final decisions on staffing for the entire shift.
  • Address safety issues and incidents promptly.
  • Conduct training plans within line for assigned shift.
  • Daily touchpoints with line associates to support EO program (Safety, Quality, TPM, etc.).
  • Provide regular feedback to associates and ensure open communication between production and management.
  • Lead timely resolution of issues on the line and drive root cause analyses with corrective actions.
  • Ensure Kanban management and work order setup accuracy.

Job Description

Leads manufacturing operations during the assigned shift, providing guidance and mentorship to Line Supervisors while making key decisions on staffing, resource allocation, and issue partner concern. Drives safety, quality, productivity, and BD Excellence initiatives by ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards, continuous improvement practices, and company policies. Responsible for developing team performance, maintaining operational efficiency, and fostering a culture aligned with BD Values.

Shift: B shift – 4:30pm-4:30am

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited, To
  • Coordinate resources and priorities within the shift.
  • Make final decision on staffing of the entire shift.
  • Promptly address any safety issues or incidents.
  • Responsible for training plans within line for assigned shift.
  • Daily touchpoints with line associates to support the Equipment Owner (EO) program. This includes but is not limited to Safety, Quality, AM defect tagging, 5S, CILTs, Centerlining, TPM, breakdowns, and top losses.
  • Provide regular, timely, and specific feedback to associates.
  • Ensure an open flow of communication exists between production associates and management. Represent concerns of production associates to management, as well as management concerns to production associates.
  • Support timely resolution of issues on the line, demonstrating servant leadership and adhering to BD Values.
  • Proactively anticipate and address problems before they impact production.
  • Prepare and run Tier 1 production meeting and ensure alignment with the Line Centric Organization (LCO) team.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company and departmental policies and practices. Works with associates to resolve employee relations issues and concerns; involves HR when needed.
  • Ensure the daily Pit Stops are implemented as expected and daily targets, goals and issues are updated on the Primary Visual Display (PVD).
  • Ensures that all line resources are properly focused to support any quality or line issues as they occur.
  • Required to spend 100% of their time out on the production floor except for when required to attend necessary meetings or hold performance related conversations with associates.
  • Ensure all root cause analysis are conducted timely and appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Communicate results and call out issues to the Line Leader.
  • Responsible for accurate Kanban management and work order set up and material reconciliation.
Education And Experience
Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience/GED
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing role in a setting with advanced automation is necessary.
Preferred
  • BA/BS Degree – Science, Industrial management, Business, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • BA/BS – 1 years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment required.
  • 1 year of people leadership experience preferred.
Work Environment
  • Minimal makeup, no fake eyelashes, acrylic or polished nails must be covered with gloves. No exposed jewelry (including wedding, tongue and other rings). Clothing should be clean and in good repair. Torn or tattered clothing is unacceptable. Pants or jeans that are severely worn, frayed or too long and drag on the floor are unacceptable. They increase airborne particulate and can act like dust mops. Midriff or halter tops are not allowed. Within the manufacturing areas, legs must be covered.
  • SMOKING/Vaping/Tobacco use - BD is a smoke free campus. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on BD property.
  • Personal Protective Equipment must be worn and will include a hair net, smock, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, and provided hearing protection. This associate may be expected to stand for long periods of time during their shift.
