Job description

Our client, a leading media and entertainment technology company, is seeking a Senior Lead UX Designer to join their User Experience and Research team on an ongoing freelance basis. This is a senior individual contributor and design leadership role responsible for helping define and drive the future of digital entertainment products used by tens of millions of customers daily. The ideal candidate is a systems-level design thinker who can set product experience strategy, mentor a team of UX designers, and guide projects from early concept through launch across a complex, multi-platform ecosystem.

• This is a fully remote, ongoing freelance opportunity. Pay rate range: $75-95/hour.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of intuitive, desirable digital products across multiple projects simultaneously, spanning a range of scale and complexity.
• Define and drive product experience strategy in close partnership with cross-functional stakeholders across product, engineering, UI, motion, copy, and research.
• Facilitate design working sessions, present and iterate on design solutions, and ensure successful delivery of all UX documentation and use cases.
• Craft, pitch, and validate short and long-term design strategies grounded in consumer personas and user research.
• Bring insight-driven design solutions to stakeholder reviews across all levels of the organization, defending design decisions with clarity and incorporating feedback thoughtfully.
• Mentor and develop UX designers at all levels within the design organization, providing direction, leadership, and ongoing support.
• Uphold and maintain detailed UX documentation, ensuring quality and consistency of UX specifications across all deliverables.
• Partner with product and other design leads to understand roadmap priorities, project timing, and scope.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure products are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed by user data.
• Continually evolve design practices and implement culture and principles that raise the bar for executional and operational excellence across the team.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of UX design experience; in-house experience is preferred though strong agency-side candidates will be considered.
• Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring UX designers from junior through senior level on active projects.
• Portfolio of original, breakthrough work with thorough documentation of the design process and end-to-end deliverables.
• Strong focus on interaction design with a clear understanding of the relationship between UX and UI as complementary disciplines.
• Experience working across organizational boundaries to define, manage, and prioritize work in a collaborative and innovative way.
• Proven ability to communicate complex design concepts clearly to a range of audiences and organizational levels.
• Deep understanding of responsive and adaptive web design, native app design, prototyping, and emerging digital platforms.
• Familiarity with agile development and lean design methodologies.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply research and data insights directly to design decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Communication Design, Interactive Design, HCI, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
