Job summary

PAE is seeking a senior Lead Electrical Engineer to drive technical excellence and discipline across complex projects in Portland. In this dual-capacity role, you will be the technical authority and a strategic team leader, delivering end-to-end electrical systems from concept to occupancy.

You will mentor staff, shape workplans, and maintain high standards in power distribution, lighting, and system analysis, while fostering lasting client relationships and project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Professional credential such as PE preferred.
  • 2–4 years of Electrical Lead experience or 5–10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project team and manage discipline to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Prepare narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications for deliverables.
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate efforts between external and internal teams.
  • Independently apply engineering judgment from concepts through construction.
  • Design electrical distribution, lighting, and power systems.
  • Develop workplans, assign tasks, and mentor staff.

The Opportunity

PAE is seeking a senior Senior Lead Electrical Engineer in our Portland office to drive technical excellence and discipline management across our most complex projects. In this dual-capacity role, you will act as both a technical authority and a strategic team leader, responsible for the end-to-end delivery of electrical systems. You will shape project workplans, mentor staff, and maintain the highest standards in Power Distribution, Lighting, and System Analysis. This position is designed for a seasoned professional who can balance rigorous engineering judgment with the ability to inspire a team and cultivate lasting client relationships.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the project team and manage discipline, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Prepare deliverable documents including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate efforts between external and internal project teams
  • Independently evaluate and apply engineering judgment from concepts through construction
  • Design electrical system distribution, lighting, and power systems
  • Assemble effective project teams and develop workplans, tasks, and assignments
  • Provide thorough interdisciplinary coordination and oversee engineering calculations and equipment selection
  • Conduct site visits and issue reports
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship for staff
  • Update master specifications and standards, and improve company processes
  • Apply distribution Load Flow, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash Energy analysis using Easy Power
  • Develop client relationships and oversee the application of the project quality management plan (QMP)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Relevant Professional Credential (e.g., PE)
  • 2–4 years of Electrical Lead experience or 5–10 years of related work experience
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff and serve as a technical resource for the company
  • Advanced understanding of electrical engineering concepts and effective design communication
  • Strong delegation and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Revit/AutoCAD, and Easy Power
What We Offer
  • Hiring base salary range: $102,600–$126,800 per year
  • Eligible for time and a half overtime pay
