Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

This position is with a global biopharmaceutical company engaged primarily in the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel therapies for the treatment of human diseases.

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Scientist to support Lab Operations for our Translational Medicine organization within a leading global biopharmaceutical company. This role will report to the Manager of Lab Planning and Execution and involves cross-functional collaboration with Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and Global Procurement teams. The Senior Scientist will be accountable for delivering robust, compliant, and efficient lab services to support the company's innovative pipeline, with potential remote support to laboratories located in Cambridge, MA and Summit, NJ.

Key responsibilities:
  • Serve as primary point of contact for laboratory operational support, ensuring a safe, compliant, and highly functional work environment.1
  • Partner closely with EHS to proactively identify, mitigate, and manage laboratory risks and compliance issues.
  • Manage lifecycle activities for laboratory equipment, including installation, calibration, maintenance, service, and decommissioning.
  • Oversee lab inventory systems: order, receive, and maintain critical supplies and consumables; monitor expiry dates and dispose of outdated products.
  • Plan and coordinate lab moves, setup, and maintenance activities in collaboration with Facilities and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all operational activities, ensuring audit readiness.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in laboratory operations, quality, and efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and contribute to a culture of operational excellence.
  • May manage junior scientists and support staff as needed.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences or similar
  • Sr. Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 4+ years’)
  • OR Masters degree and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years’)
  • OR PhD

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory operational practices, EHS regulations, and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with biomarker and diagnostics workflows is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while knowing when to escalate critical issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ERP/MRP systems like SAP/Ariba and laboratory management software.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior staff or leading operational teams is preferred.
