Job summary

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of professional interior design experience.
  • Residential design experience is a plus.
  • Fluency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong graphics and visual presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • 3D modeling and rendering experience (Rhino, Revit) is a plus.
  • Hand drawing and rendering capabilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Source antique and vintage furniture and objects.
  • Research and develop materials for diverse project needs.
  • Coordinate decorative elements with architectural design.
  • Document decorative and finish specifications/schedules with materials, hardware, fixtures.
  • Develop furniture plans and FF&E concepts.
  • Lead and manage decorative furnishing procurement and budgets.
  • Liaise with workrooms to ensure craftsmanship and detail.
  • Oversee installation scheduling and on-site coordination.
  • Create client presentations with visual research and design.

Roman and Williams is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join our dynamic team. Qualities of an ideal applicant would include strong organizational skills, flexibility in multi-tasking, resourcefulness, self-motivation, curiosity, strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to work within a team, and of course great taste. The ideal candidate would be able to think and work at both the broadest and smallest scale of the design process, and to comfortably pivot between the creative responsibilities of the position as well as the logistic. There absolutely are production responsibilities with this position, and it requires a command of the entirety of creative process and the ability to move at a fast and intense pace. This position on our Residential team requires pro-active self-management to establish and sustain momentum and forward motion on the projects. This is an outstanding opportunity for a designer to work on meaningful projects for private clients - the ability to communicate and liaise directly with these clients is a responsibility of the position.

Responsibilities would include but not be limited to:
  • Expertise in antique and vintage furniture and object sourcing.
  • Proficiency in material sourcing, including research and development for varied project requirements.
  • Strong collaborative skills for coordinating decorative elements with architectural design.
  • Comprehensive documentation of decorative and finish specifications/schedules, including material details, hardware, and fixtures.
  • Skillful development of furniture plans.
  • Experience in custom FF&E design and development.
  • Budget management, including creation and execution of decorative project budgets.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage decorative furnishing procurement.
  • Effective liaison with workrooms to ensure high-quality craftsmanship and detail.
  • Comprehensive management of installation scheduling and on-site coordination.
  • Development of compelling client presentations, including visual research and design.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills for internal principal reviews and high-end residential clients.
Job Qualifications (Required):
  • Minimum of 7 - 10 years of professional interior design experience
  • Residential experience a plus
  • Fluency in AutoCAD, the Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong graphics and visual presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • 3D modeling and rendering experience (Rhino, Revit) is a plus
  • Dexterity with hand drawing: rendering capabilities is a plus
