Job summary

Central Transport in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Dispatcher/Operations Lead to oversee outbound terminal operations. You will manage loading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight, while directing up to 30 drivers and dock personnel to meet schedules.

The ideal candidate has transportation experience, strong leadership, and a passion for service excellence. A related degree is preferred; this is a hands-on, on-site role with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, cross docking, or shipping/receiving, preferably in LTL.
• Strong leadership qualities and ability to manage up to 30 drivers/dock personnel.

• High aptitude for technology and ability to multi-task while staying detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outbound operations for a designated section of the terminal dock.
• Manage loading, forklift traffic, and sorting of palletized freight.
• Supervise up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules.
• Utilize independent judgment to build loads based on labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring cube and trailer weight.
• Provide leadership and accountability to drivers, dock workers and dock hands.
• Monitor dock production and KPI performance, including hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure adherence to company operational models and quality culture.

Shifts:

2:00AM-12:00PM, Tuesday-Saturday

Salary:

$60,000-$75,000 + Bonus

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An associate or bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee outbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock
• This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
