Anchor Heating and Air in Douglasville, GA seeks a Senior Commercial HVAC Service Technician with 10+ years of commercial experience to lead complex diagnostics and fault resolution on large-scale systems.

You will mentor junior technicians, ensure quality control, maintain client relationships, and manage off-hours emergency work while coordinating with building management systems and major equipment brands.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of documented field service experience in commercial/industrial HVAC.
  • EPA Universal Certification is strictly required; Journeyman/Master license preferred.
  • Deep understanding of electrical safety and diagnostics up to 480V three-phase.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, inspection, maintenance, and repair on complex commercial HVAC systems (2–200+ tons).
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control malfunctions quickly and accurately.
  • Mentor junior technicians and serve as senior on-site point of contact for clients.
  • Lead on-call rotations and assist with emergency off-hours service calls.

Job description

We are seeking an elite, highly skilled Senior Commercial HVAC Service Technician with 10 or more years of dedicated commercial experience. In this role, you will serve as a primary technical expert responsible for complex diagnostics, emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance on wide-ranging commercial and industrial mechanical systems. Beyond advanced technical execution, you will play a crucial role in mentoring junior technicians, ensuring quality control, and maintaining stellar client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution & Diagnostics
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, inspection, maintenance, and repair on complex commercial HVAC systems ranging from 2 to 200+ tons.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and digital control malfunctions swiftly and accurately.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, manufacturer instructions, and complex sequence of operations.
  • Execute complex component overhauls, including retrofits, compressor change-outs, and VFD parameters configuration.
System Optimization & Maintenance
  • Conduct detailed water quality treatments, combustion adjustments, and system flushing for boilers.
  • Implement and refine large-scale preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment efficiency and longevity.
  • Safely manage, recover, and document refrigerant usage in strict compliance with EPA regulations.
Leadership & Client Relations
  • Act as a technical mentor to junior and mid-level service technicians, guiding them through difficult diagnostic scenarios.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact on job sites, translating technical data into clear, actionable explanations for clients.
  • Lead on-call rotations and provide critical support for emergency off-hours service calls.
  • Candidates must possess hands-on proficiency with major commercial and industrial equipment brands across:
  • Chillers & Boilers: Centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers; hot water and steam boiler systems.
  • Air Handling: Rooftop package units (RTUs), large air handlers, VAV boxes, and commercial split systems.
  • Advanced Systems: Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF/VRV) ducted and ductless systems.
  • Controls: Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of documented experience as a field service technician in the commercial/industrial HVAC sector.
  • Licensing: EPA Universal Certification is strictly required. Valid Journeyman or Master Mechanical License preferred.
  • Electrical: Deep understanding of electrical safety and diagnostic protocols up to 480V three-phase systems.
  • Driving: Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable motor vehicle record.
  • Physical Safety: Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds, climb tall ladders, navigate scaffolding, and work in tight or rooftop environments safely.
