Role Summary

As a Senior Group Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for Managing the team owning Thermal System components across all vehicle platforms. In this role you will oversee commercial and strategic aspects of the awarding of new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements. You will also take the lead in making sure Rivian can meet its cost targets, suppliers deliver to our aggressive timelines, and parts are received at the highest level of quality. In our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the strategic sourcing process from start to finish and everything in between. This role reports to the Director of the Powertrain, Thermal & Energy Management onsite in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Thermal system focused Purchasing Managers
• Lead RFI/ RFQ/ RFP and strategic sourcing process with exceptional commercial acumen
• Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps
• Lead your team through contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDA’s, General Terms & Conditions and Production Supply Agreements
• Support detailed analysis of quote submissions based on cost breakdown form data, including investment
• Drive and implement activities to deliver cost reductions on prototype and production vehicles through leveraged negotiations
• Act as initial escalation point and support supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics
• Review Engineering, Design & Development (ED&D) costs with Engineering leads to ensure best-in-class cost is attained.
• Manage your System budget in collaboration with Rivian Finance team
• Work closely alongside Program Management to support prototype requirements, execute against build milestones and track sourcing progress
• Support Supplier Quality plant audits and technical reviews
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
• 10+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buying related experience in the electronic components industry
• 3+ years leading a team of purchasing, procurement, or commodity managers focused on ECU related components
• Working knowledge of electronics product development and manufacturing process
• Effective negotiation experience with board level electronic components for PCBAs
• 7+ years MS Office
• Good interpersonal and communications skills
• High level of integrity
• Analytical skills to ensure both internal and external requests are fulfilled
• Attention to detail to ensure specifications being requested are received
• Ability to work independently, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with automotive, electronics or software/ hardware suppliers is a plus
  
  

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $176,200 - $220,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
