Role Summary

As a Senior Group Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for managing the team overseeing Thermal System components across all vehicle platforms. You will oversee commercial and strategic aspects of awarding new business, develop strong supplier relationships, and collaborate with engineering teams to meet technical requirements. You will ensure Rivian meets cost targets, suppliers deliver on timelines, and parts meet quality standards. Our team expects members to own every aspect of the strategic sourcing process. This role reports to the Director of Powertrain, Thermal & Energy Management in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Thermal System Purchasing Managers
  • Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP and strategic sourcing processes with commercial acumen
  • Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps
  • Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDAs, Terms & Conditions, and Supply Agreements
  • Support analysis of quote submissions based on cost data, including investments
  • Drive cost reductions on prototypes and production vehicles through negotiations
  • Act as escalation point and support supplier relationships using KPIs
  • Review Engineering, Design & Development costs with engineering leads
  • Manage your system budget with the Rivian Finance team
  • Work with Program Management to support prototype requirements, build milestones, and sourcing progress
  • Support supplier quality audits and technical reviews
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
  • 10+ years in purchasing, procurement, or buying in electronics components
  • 3+ years leading a team of procurement managers focused on ECU components
  • Knowledge of electronics product development and manufacturing
  • Negotiation experience with board-level electronic components
  • 7+ years MS Office proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High integrity and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with automotive, electronics, or software/hardware suppliers is a plus
Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $176,200 - $220,300 (actual compensation based on experience, location, and other factors).

Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, effective from first day, with Rivian covering most premiums.
