Job summary

• Provide geological support throughout the well planning and lifecycle, coordinating with reservoir, drilling, completions, and operations teams.
• Perform detailed carbonate reservoir characterization and petrophysical analysis to support development and investment decisions.
• Evaluate acreage, drilling inventory, development concepts, and subsurface risk in support of growth strategy.

Job description

A privately held, well-capitalized energy company in Fort Worth is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to join its technical team. This is a hands-on role for a Geologist who can contribute across development, operations, subsurface evaluation, and asset optimization. The ideal candidate brings strong Lower 48 experience, with Permian Basin experience highly preferred, and is comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with direct exposure to decision-makers.

Responsibilities

• Lead geological evaluation and interpretation supporting development planning, drilling, and ongoing operations.
• Integrate subsurface, petrophysical, well, production, and geologic data to identify development opportunities and optimize existing assets.
• Provide geological support throughout the well planning and operational lifecycle, working closely with reservoir, drilling, completions, and operations teams.
• Perform detailed carbonate reservoir characterization and petrophysical analysis to support development and investment decisions.
• Evaluate acreage, drilling inventory, development concepts, and subsurface risk in support of the company's growth strategy.

Requirements

• 10+ years of upstream oil & gas geology experience, ideally with an E&P operator.
• Strong background in development geology and operations, with experience taking projects from subsurface evaluation through execution.
• Permian Basin experience strongly preferred, with broader Lower 48 experience also considered.
• Demonstrated experience working with carbonate reservoirs and carbonate petrophysics.
• Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to operate independently in a lean, highly collaborative private-company environment.
