The Senior General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the business for their home community and up to 3 additional buildings. This includes providing leadership, development, execution, business management, and strategy, focusing on strategic priorities such as:

  1. Attracting, retaining, and developing top talent.
  2. Providing innovative, outstanding, and consistent care & services.
  3. Maximizing profitability through revenue generation and expense control.
  4. Retaining and enhancing the Sunrise culture.

Responsibilities include hiring, onboarding, and developing Executive Directors and key coordinators; conducting site visits; providing sales leadership and coaching; executing strategic sales pricing; and championing the Sunrise Mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Duties: People
  • Attract, hire, retain, and develop top talent.
  • Hire, onboard, and develop Executive Directors and key Coordinators; participate in the EDIT Program.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Understand daily community operations.
  • Demonstrate leadership aligned with Sunrise’s values and principles.
  • Manage difficult issues proactively and make bold decisions.
  • Follow up on customer issues and resolve them promptly.
  • Facilitate annual and quarterly meetings with community teams.
  • Build relationships with residents, families, team members, and referral sources.
Essential Duties: Product
  • Understand Sunrise products and services, including features and benefits.
  • Stay informed on state/provincial laws and regulations.
  • Oversee quality assurance and conduct site reviews and reviews.
Essential Duties: Profit
  • Manage P&L, including pricing, financial reports, census, and expenses.
  • Use business intelligence tools for decision-making.
  • Develop marketing strategies and review marketing plans.
  • Lead external business development strategies.
  • Set pricing strategies and monitor financial reports.
  • Apply budgeting and capital expenditure policies.
  • Leverage multiple revenue sources beyond occupancy.
  • Understand market competition and internal costs.
  • Process expenses and budgets timely.
Essential Duties: Training, Leadership, and Team Member Development
  • Develop team members’ skills and confidence for greater responsibilities.
  • Participate in Sunrise University training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with training and orientation programs.
  • Develop annual training calendars and manage the EDIT program.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Achieve engagement goals and lead improvement plans.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and hold team accountable.
  • Stay updated on professional developments.
  • Maintain compliance with required training to meet Sunrise standards.
Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • A college degree (preferred), management experience, or as required by state regulations.
  • Five (5) years of management or operational leadership experience; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Sunrise applications.
  • Ability to travel within the geographic area.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and peak hours.
