Job summary

Universal Logistics is recruiting a Floor Supervisor to support GM Lake Orion Assembly in Lake Orion, Michigan. You will supervise cross-dock operations and lead hourly teams to ensure safe, efficient material movement aligned with production needs.

You will monitor workflow, coach staff, ensure accurate documentation, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve service. Prior manufacturing or logistics experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory or team-lead experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or distribution.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
• Experience managing hourly employees and coordinating daily operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
• Preferred: automotive-related operations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily cross dock operations supporting GM Lake Orion Assembly.
• Lead, coach, and develop hourly employees while promoting accountability.
• Ensure the timely loading, unloading, staging, and movement of materials.
• Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and productivity to ensure operational goals are met.
• Maintain compliance with all safety policies, customer requirements, and company procedures.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues, shipment discrepancies, and service interruptions.
• Coordinate with transportation providers, customers, and internal teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
• Track and report key performance indicators related to safety, quality, productivity, and delivery performance.
• Support employee training, onboarding, and performance management activities.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and service improvements.
• Maintain accurate documentation, inventory records, and operational reporting.
