Job description

Sr. Fleet Reliability Lead, Middle Mile Fleet Management

Job ID: 10461374 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Amazon's Middle Mile Fleet Management organization manages one of the largest and most diverse commercial fleets in North America — tractors, trailers, box trucks, and hostlers operating across hundreds of sites. The Fleet Reliability team is responsible for improving asset uptime, reducing maintenance cost, and holding vendor partners accountable through data-driven programs. We are looking for a Fleet Reliability Lead to own reliability outcomes across multiple asset classes, driving root cause analysis, vendor performance management, and measurable Mean Time Between Grounding (MTBG) improvement through analytical rigor and cross-functional program execution.

Key job responsibilities
  • Identify top contributors to assigned asset downtime and develop targeted programs to mitigate failure patterns and improve fleet reliability
  • Provide end-to-end program management — defining project plans, managing implementation activities, and developing processes, documentation, and communications for program rollout and ongoing support
  • Author whitepapers to gain initial buy-in and stakeholder alignment, and provide structured status updates as programs complete critical milestones
  • Identify key performance metrics and build a reporting suite that enables effective program management at full scale
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned assets, developing an A-to-Z understanding of asset systems and providing informed support to internal customers and cross-functional partners
  • Drive resolution of critical asset issues and lead deep dives into supporting processes and systems to ensure thorough root cause analysis, corrective action, and measurable improvement in customer experience
  • Define key performance indicators — develop metrics and service level agreements for core programs and processes, and track delivery against program objectives as they relate to assigned Middle Mile assets
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
  • Experience with design & innovation and research & development
  • Experience in management of engineering design projects
  • Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
  • Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and translating them to actionable business insight
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of specialty (with progressive responsibility) experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing
  • Experience with design-in-safety
  • Hands-on industry experience supporting trailers, tractors, box trucks, and/or hostlers
  • Familiarity with Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards (VMRS) coding and maintenance data analysis
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, DOT inspection standards, and TMC repair specifications
